Phalaenopsis
It is at the beginning of the 18th century when Dutch botanist Karl Ludwig Blume sees a group of butterflies hanging still by a tree during one of his trips through Java. Once arrived at these "butterflies" it turns out to be orchids. Blume later called this Phalaenopsis.    The name Phalaenopsis comes from the Greek "Phalaina" what "butterfly" means, and "opsis" what "similar" means. The name describes the inflorescence of some species, which looks like a flying bowel butterfly. They originally occur in Southeast Asia, from the Himalayas to the islands of Polillo and Palawan of the Philippines and North Australia.
